Installing USB drivers for Windows 7 and later does not work correctly automatically:
Connect the unit, let Windows auto-detect the device and install whatever drivers it thinks it can find. Then go into Control Panel – and manually add the correct drivers (the ones you downloaded). The incorrectly drivers will be marked with a red/orange ! Do this twice, once for the USB Grader (device) and one for the USB serial port.
